Microchipping saves lives or at least it helps find missing dogs and cats. This was helped to return a small sweet doggie home, who was found near a cemetery and taken in by a local veterinary hospital.

Local residents spotted this little beauty near a cemetery. They couldn't get more information about the dog, because every time someone approached her, he/she was greeted with a growl. However, that didn't stop the locals from taking care of the dog. They kept the pooch fed, and even made a makeshift kennel.

Still, locals were concerned about the doggie because homeless dogs often get into trouble. A woman who was taking care of the dog decided to report her to a local shelter, Nicholas Pet Haven.

The rescuers at Nicholas Pet Haven wasted no time. They set up a trap to lure the dog and safely rescue her, which they did later that night. After that they took the dog to the shelter, where she was given a bath, flea treated, and dewormed. And what was the best part of this rescue?

The shelter staff found out that the dog had a microchip and was named Truvy. They called the number on the microchip and the woman who answered the call jumped for joy. Her Truvy was finally found!

"When Truvy disappeared, we immediately combed the neighborhood, on foot and by car," Amy recounted. "Over the next few months, I spent looking for her. I've also sent emails to all the veterinary hospitals, shelters and rescues within a 60-mile radius in case she was picked up by someone who wasn't local."

Amy began to lose hope when she couldn't find her dog.

When Amy entered the room Truvy knew immediately that her human mother was in front of her. Truvy successfully found her way back to her family because she was microchipped.
