The tiny orphaned kitten arrived at the Front Street Shelter, where she found the perfect human Haley Waugh, who works for the organization.
"One of my coworkers walked over and held a kitten up in front of me," Haley says. "She gently placed the delicate baby into the front pocket of my overall, and the kitten snugged right in."
Haley smiled and immediately felt relieved. She knew she was taking the baby in, at least temporarily, until the little one got stronger. The kitten was named Lavender.
Lavender was very small for her age. The first day after her rescue, she acted wary until she got to know Haley better. The hissing changed to purring.
As the kitten grew up, she'd become much bolder. Lavender enjoyed exploring every corner of the house and following Haley and her husband.
Even though Lavender was the smallest pet in the house, she was very active.
With each day, Haley fell more and more in love with the kitten. And one day she realized she just couldn't part with Lavender.
Hayley wasn't planning on taking in any more pets, but the tiny kitten has changed her plans.
