When a weak newborn kitten arrived at the shelter, there was little hope it would make it. And only one of volunteers at the center, a girl named Caitlin, wanted to nurse the baby back to health. On seeing the kitten, she couldn't pass by and took it into her care.
Difficult journey to recovery and a pleasant acquaintance
The new member of the family needed help. The kitty was very thin, had a cold, and there was serious inflammation in its nose and eyes. Despite the difficulties, Caitlin had never once regretted taking the baby in. She knew the basics of medicine, and she knew how to treat animals. Calculating the dose, she began to give the kitten antibiotics, so that the poor thing wouldn't lose his sight and smell. Even in the middle of the night Caitlin would get up to bottle-feed the baby and soothe it.
After a few weeks the kitten was unrecognizable: it became stronger, more active and curious. That's when Caitlin decided to introduce it to another furry pet – Grace the dog. Grace had been living with Caitlin for a long time, the woman was just waiting for the right moment to introduce the two pets.
Caitlin was very afraid that the cat and the dog would not get along. But the dog accepted the kitten as her own: Grace followed it everywhere, always fell asleep next to it and even washed it.
Grace and the kitten were of identical snow-white color, which helped them see each other as members of the same pack. That's how a defenseless kitten and an adult dog have become loyal friends and once again proved that these two species can peacefully coexist.
