A stray mother cat and her kittens have been recently rescued from the street in California. Unfortunately, the cat mom would constantly avoid one of her kittens, the smallest and weakest. Volunteers have noticed that the adult cat would not let it suck milk or lick it.

According to the shelter staff, this baby was born the last, so it is the smallest and weakest in the litter. Cat mothers often abandon such babies, believing that it is better to focus on nursing healthy and strong kittens.

To save the little one, volunteer Kristen Shepherd took him in. She began bottle-feeding him every few hours around the clock and swaddling him in blankets to keep him warm. Swaddling, according to shelter vets, is an efficient method of keeping warm the babies in need of mother's love.

Kristen says the kitten cried a lot at first, but eventually got used to the new environment. Now Kristen has found the kitten another nursing mom. The new mom cat accepted the baby despite its size. As it can be seen from the pictures, the kitten, who is now seven weeks old, is almost half the size of his new brothers, who are four weeks old. The little kitten has not yet been given a name, but it is no longer so weak and is already able to fend for itself.
