Sometimes buildings might be given a second life. The two-story building, which earlier was a police station, is located in the small village called “Scissett”. According to the 2001 census the village had about under one and a half thousand inhabitants. And it has even less nowadays. But such low population characteristics didn’t stop the girl from the embodiment of her idea.

First step was made, when Rachel bought the building. She paid about £180 000 for the building. The place had been empty for the decades, before Rachel bought it. The house was built in 1853 and it was closed in 1969 because of police workers relocation. Thus, when a girl showed her interest in an old building, the local government was happy to get rid of useless municipal property.

At the moment Rachel first stepped into the building, everything was the same as in the days of the police station: there were several cells with bars for local criminals, office rooms with personal belongings left and even a bit of mold. So it took a lot of effort for Rachel just to clean the placement from old junk.

Onwards Rachel and her boyfriend Mike planned all stages of the repair and got to work. They picked up a nice light interior design, but, at the same time, they managed to preserve the authentic aesthetic of the place.

For this purpose, they kept the beams under the ceiling and the wooden floor. Elsewhere the brickwork hadn’t been replaced as well.

Later on, the local television became interested in the nonstandard transformation of the former police station. Rachel and Mike were helped to finish the renovation process. And the film crew took part in the creation of a small story about their project.
