In 1996, Jodi, who worked as a realtor, took in an unusual pet – a one-month-old puppy named Bosley, who had been born with a cleft palate. This condition led to the development of severe respiratory complications, and the puppy soon crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Jodi felt responsible for her pet's death and believed she had not done enough for his well-being.

Ten years later, a little boxer named Gracie, who had the same congenital defect as Bosley, came into Jodi's life. The woman was very worried about her new pet's health, but after consulting the vet, she learned that cleft palate dogs could live a happy life.

It's turned out that if the puppy has a reconstructive surgery early in his life, many health problems can be avoided in the future.

Jodi immediately agreed to the treatment, which guaranteed Gracie a long and happy life. The woman gave Gracie everything she had and since then Jodi is committed to helping animals with cleft palate and cleft lip in late Bosley's memory.

Jodi has founded Save The Cleft Rescue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing kittens and puppies with congenital lip and palate deformities and other health conditions.

Jodi and her team have already been able to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of animals, many of whom were doomed to being put to sleep. Save The Cleft Rescue first helped them with surgery and then found them a forever home.

Today, Jodi's organization is working to raise people's awareness of congenital oral deformities and encourages pet owners not to give up on "defective" pups. She hopes people will understand that such pets also need love just like other dogs.
