One day, a Wisconsin retiree Terry walked into a cat shelter with a brush in his hand. "He just walked in and offered to brush the cats," Elizabeth Feldhausen, the founder of the shelter, said.

Since then the elderly man comes to the cage-free cat shelter every day. "Eventually, we asked him to fill in our volunteer questionnaire," Feldhausen said.

Terry usually brushes a cat and then takes a nap next to this furry pet. Grandpa naps for about an hour, then takes another cat. Terry says that both he and the cats enjoy the process of brushing. The elderly man spends about three hours a day at the shelter.

Shelter staff often take pictures of Terry napping peacefully with the cats. One day, a photo of the man with his beloved Louis the cat was posted on the shelter's social media. The next day, the cat was taken into a family. The photo went viral and made the shelter popular.

Now the shelter often posts photos with the caption, "We are so lucky to have a human like Terry... He brushes all of the cats, and can tell you about all of their likes and dislikes. He also accidentally falls asleep most days. We don't mind. Cats need this! Terry is a wonderful volunteer."

People started donating money to the shelter. "Terry is just happy that his nap is raising money for the cats he loves," Elizabeth said.
