When Jakub Szczesny told his close friends about his plan to spend all his savings on building a cozy home on the narrow space between two high-rise buildings, they were amazed at his determination. But a year later, all their doubts cleared up: the architect made his dream come true, and the narrow passage became a cozy house for one person.
When Jakub told his friends that he had decided to purchase a tiny lot between two houses, he faced ridicule. The space was being used as a makeshift garbage dump and looked completely useless.
But the man had a brilliant plan. Szczesna came up with the idea to build a narrow multi-level house on that lot.
Szczesna's house is truly unique. It occupies a narrow strip of land, 3 ft in the narrowest place, that is located between two buildings facing each other.
"I wanted to create something unique, unusual and extravagant," Szczesna explains, "I wanted to prove that in a small space you can create not only a functional house, but also a real work of art."
The exterior wall of the house is made of thick frosted glass, which allows a fair amount of light to enter the house and protects its owner from curious passers-by. The interior design has been thought out in detail, making full use of every available square foot.
On the ground floor there is a small kitchen, a bathroom and a small sofa, which can be used as a living or a sleeping area. A staircase leads to the first floor, where there is an office area with a desk and bookshelf. The second floor is a mini loft with a cozy sleeping area.
"It was a complex project that took a lot of time and effort," Szczesna says. "I created a detailed design and planed every available square foot of the house. You really can't go further than this: the widest part is only 4 ft, the narrowest part is 3 ft."

Jakub Szczesna's house can also be used as a guesthouse for creative travelers. Despite its small size, it is a cozy and comfortable place to stay in. This unique house has become a real landmark that attracts many people interested in architecture and design.
